Background: Fahr syndrome is a rare entity characterized by symmetrical bilateral brain calcifications, involving basal ganglia (mainly), thalami, dentate nuclei and the cerebral and cerebellar white matter. Progressive neurologic dysfunction and other neuropsychiatric disorders are characteristic.
